About our Club

Northwestern Connecticut Dog Club has been an active organization in Litchfield County for over 60 years. It is a member club of the American Kennel Club. Membership in NCDC is open to anyone interested in purebred dogs. Members include breeders, exhibitors, obedience and agility trainers and people who have dogs and want to be involved in activities about them.

The club has an All Breed Dog Show and Obedience Trial every year at the Goshen Agricultural Fair Grounds in Goshen, Connecticut and has been sponsoring this event for more than 50 years. Dogs from all over the United States have been competing here for AKC championship points and obedience titles.

NCDC also sponsors testing for the Canine Good Citizen title ( CGC) at various events throughout the year. NCDC has also puts on an Agility Trial.

Meetings are held once a month in Litchfield County. Check the 'Calendar' tab on this website for times and location. Often there are speakers and programs covering a variety of subjects of interest for people interested in dogs.

NCDC has handling classes for people who want instructions and experience handling their dogs for competition at dog shows. There are also obedience classes for the novice handler and young dog in need of basic obedience instructions. There are classes for every level from Novice to Open and Utility. These classes are open to the public.

The club also provides a Breeder Referral Service for anyone interested in buying an AKC registered dog. This includes a listing of breeders and information a buyer needs to know before purchasing a dog.

NCDC awards scholarships to area residents who are pursuing a career in animal related studies. We are very proud of the veterinarians who we were able to help along the way. We also make donations to many animal related charities and to various veterinary schools for their research programs.
